O b je c t Iv e s 1. Understand the physiology behind the gastrointestinal tract and the route of oral drug administration and physiological influences on pharmacodynamics. 2. Understand the dynamics and functions of the major signal transduction systems and their different biomedical and biological responses in regard to receptor–ligand interactions. 3. Learn about the dynamics and mathematical expressions behind receptor–ligand interactions. 4. Understand dose–response relationships and factors that affect a pharmacological response. 5. Learn about agonistic, antagonistic, and partial agonistic binding of drugs to receptors. 6. Learn about different concepts such as addition, synergism, and potentiation that lead to an enhancement effect of drugs. 7. List a few regulatory mechanisms for receptors. 8. Implement a series of Learning Bridge assignments at your experiential sites to bridge your didactic learning with your experiential experiences.

Evaluation the Effect of Crocin on Bisphenol A-Induced Memory Impairment in Rats: Role of ERK, CaMKII, and CREB Proteins in Hippocampus
Introduction: Bisphenol A (BPA) is a toxic chemical that is used as a monomer in the production of plastic products. The BPA has an endocrine-disrupting effect and induces damage to the nervous system. Crocin, an active ingredient of Crocus sativus L. has neuroprotective effects. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate crocin’s effects on BPA-induced memory impairment in rats and the levels ...
متن کاملP 1: Effect of Clavulanic Acid on Trimethyltin-Induced Cytotoxicity in PC12
Introduction: Trimethyltin (TMT) is a short-chain trialkyltin used as a stabilizer of plastics. It is also a known neurotoxic agent in both human and animals. Clavulanic acid is previously known as a non-competitive inhibitor of β-lactamase. Oral bioavailability, low antibiotic activity and good CNS penetration are important properties of CA which nominated this compound for evaluation neu...

متن کاملA Semi-Physiological Population Model to Quantify the Effect of Hematocrit on Everolimus Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics in Cancer Patients
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE Everolimus (a drug from the class of mammalian target of rapamycin [mTOR] inhibitors) is associated with frequent toxicity-related dose reductions. Everolimus accumulates in erythrocytes, but the extent to which hematocrit affects everolimus plasma pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics is unknown. We aimed to investigate the everolimus pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamic...

متن کاملEffect of Erythropoietin on Serum Brain-derived Biomarkers after Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Rats
Objective(s) Erythropoietin has been shown to exert neuroprotective effects in a variety of CNS injury models. Elevation of serum S100β, as a glial damage marker and myelin basic protein (MBP) has been reported to occur in acute carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of erythropoietin (EPO) on serum S100β and MBP levels after CO poisoning in rats. Mat...
